The Role
Gower College Swansea is seeking to appoint a professional and proactive Student Health Advisor, specialising in Mental Health, to provide a health advisory service to students across the College.
The successful candidate will provide advice and guidance relating to specific student health issues, specialising but not limited to mental health, to relevant staff. The role will support health and wellbeing across the College, including mental health awareness, health promotion activity, risk assessments, and liaison with internal and external support services.

Key Responsibilities
-
Carry out risk assessments for students who disclose high-risk medical conditions and provide advice to staff on their responsibilities in supporting learners safely and effectively.

Support and deliver a monthly Health Promotion programme, leading on mental health awareness with learners across the College and addressing relevant issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, general mental wellbeing, sexual health, healthy lifestyles and smoking.

Liaise closely with faculty staff, the Learner Experience and Wellbeing Manager and the Learner Support Co-ordinator to assess the medical and support needs of students with learning, physical and mental health needs.

Support mental health referrals through the Feel Safe system, liaising with Student Support Officers, multi-agency teams and the counselling service to ensure appropriate support is in place.
About You
-
Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist or health professional on the relevant part of the register.

Post-registration experience, including experience within an educational setting.

Experience of working with young people and delivering health education programmes.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels, using initiative to organise, prioritise and respond flexibly to the needs of the service.
