About Heat Different
Heat Different is a multi-award-winning designer and installer of renewable heating and hot water systems for domestic and commercial properties.
We pride ourselves on installing exceptionally high-quality heating systems using carefully selected materials and equipment. The quality of our workmanship and attention to detail are a huge part of what sets us apart.
We're now looking for an experienced plumber or heating engineer to join our installation team.
Previous heat pump experience is not necessary.
If you're a skilled plumber or heating engineer who takes pride in producing neat, high-quality work, we'll provide the on-the-job training and support needed to develop your knowledge of heat pumps and renewable heating systems.
The Role
Do you take pride in standing back at the end of an installation and looking at something you've built properly?
We're looking for someone who enjoys creating exceptionally neat heating installations, cares about the details and wants their workmanship to speak for itself.
As a Heat Different Installation Engineer, you'll work on the installation of our air source and ground source heat pump systems.
You'll work from our system designs and schematics, installing pipework and components neatly, accurately and with care.
You'll also be an important point of contact for our customers while you're on site, keeping them informed of progress and representing Heat Different to the high standard we're known for.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Installing heating and hot water systems in domestic and commercial properties
- Installing pipework, cylinders, pumps, valves and other system components
- Working accurately from system schematics and installation drawings
- Producing exceptionally neat and well-presented pipework
- Testing, flushing, filling and preparing systems for commissioning
- Identifying and solving installation problems on site
- Keeping customers informed of progress throughout the installation
- Completing digital installation records and documentation
- Organising materials and managing stock required for installations
- Working effectively with other engineers and members of the Heat Different team
- Providing feedback and identifying ways we can continually improve our installation process
You Don't Need Heat Pump Experience
We're much more interested in finding someone with excellent plumbing skills, the right attitude and a genuine pride in their workmanship than finding someone who already knows everything about heat pumps.
Previous renewable heating or heat pump experience is welcome, but it isn't a requirement for this position.
If you have a strong plumbing and heating background, we'll provide on-the-job heat pump training and help you develop the technical knowledge required to install our renewable heating systems.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced plumber or heating engineer who wants to move into the growing renewable heating industry.
What We're Looking For
The right person will have:
- Strong plumbing and heating installation skills
- An aptitude for exceptionally neat working practices
- The ability to follow system schematics
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Good organisation and the ability to work to agreed timescales
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Confidence communicating professionally with customers
- Good digital documentation skills
- The ability to work independently and make sensible decisions on site
- A team mentality with shared responsibility and accountability
- A willingness to learn and develop new technical skills
- Flexibility where business and project requirements demand it
Above all, we're looking for someone who cares about the quality of what they install.

- NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing or equivalent
- Unvented Domestic Hot Water Storage qualification
- Full, clean UK driving licence

Take Pride in What You Install
At Heat Different, we don't see heating installations as something that should simply work and then be hidden away.

If you're a plumber or heating engineer who takes pride in neat pipework, enjoys solving problems and likes leaving a job knowing it's been done properly, we'd like to hear from you.
