Ground Trainer and Standards Officer
Location: Southampton Airport & London Gatwick Airport
Reporting to: Ground Training Manager

Aurigny is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Ground Trainer to play a key role in supporting and developing our ground operations teams across Gatwick and Southampton. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced aviation professional who enjoys sharing knowledge, driving standards and helping colleagues succeed.
As a Ground Trainer, you'll be at the heart of our operation—designing, delivering and continuously improving training programmes that ensure our teams are safe, compliant, confident and customer-focused.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll work closely with station management and operational leaders to deliver engaging training that supports both day-to-day operations and long-term development across the business.
Training & Development
- Design, prepare and deliver training programmes aligned with company procedures and operational requirements.
- Deliver training across Gatwick, Southampton and other stations when required.
- Facilitate a wide range of learning programmes including:
- New starter inductions
- Annual refresher training
- Health & safety training
- Customer service and standards programmes
- Technical operational training
- Supervisory and leadership development
- Deliver professional classroom-based and practical training sessions to colleagues at all levels, including management teams.
- Support the development of future training initiatives and undertake specialist instructor qualifications where required.
Driving Standards & Compliance
- Keep training materials current with changing regulations, legislation and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate training records and ensure audit readiness at all times.
- Conduct audits and identify training opportunities, operational risks and areas for improvement.
- Support the implementation of new procedures through effective communication and training delivery.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement across all ground operations activities.
Operational Partnership
- Collaborate with operational managers to identify training priorities and workforce development needs.
- Produce training reports and contribute to regular operational and training meetings.
- Build strong relationships with airport authorities, third-party providers and key stakeholders.
- Support consistent operational standards across multiple stations.
Safety First
- Champion safe, compliant and professional working practices.
- Maintain strong knowledge of aircraft handling, dispatch procedures and ramp safety requirements.
- Support operational teams when required and contribute to the smooth running of airport operations.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking someone who combines operational credibility with a genuine passion for developing others.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 12 months' operational experience in an airport environment (in line with IATA requirements).
- Strong understanding of ground handling and airport operations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Confident engaging with colleagues at all levels of the organisation.
- Flexible approach to travel, working locations and occasional weekend work.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and operational systems.
- Valid UK or Guernsey driving licence.
Desirable
- Previous training or coaching experience.
- Experience delivering classroom and practical operational training.
- Level 3 Award in Education and Training (PTLLS or equivalent), or willingness to work towards it.
- RTITB Aerodrome Equipment Instructor qualification, or willingness to undertake training.
Security & Regulatory Requirements
Successful applicants will be required to:
- Obtain and maintain a Counter Terrorism Check (CTC).
- Provide a full five-year employment, education and activity history.
- Complete additional security and regulatory training as required.
