Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our new restaurant opening in The Dolphin, Poole. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Japanese cuisine, specialising in sushi preparation, and will be responsible for creating authentic, high-quality sushi dishes. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your craftsmanship in a dynamic dining environment, ensuring every plate meets our standards of excellence and presentation. The Sushi Chef will also contribute to maintaining a clean and organised kitchen, adhering to food safety regulations, and inspiring team members with their culinary expertise.

Responsibilities

Prepare a variety of sushi dishes with precision and artistic flair, ensuring authentic presentation and flavour.
Source fresh ingredients and manage inventory to maintain quality standards.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the sushi station in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely service during busy periods.
Innovate new sushi recipes and assist in menu development to keep offerings exciting for guests.
Train junior staff members on sushi preparation techniques and best practices.
Ensure all food is prepared according to established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
Monitor food quality during service and make adjustments as necessary to uphold consistency.

Skills

Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role within a reputable establishment.
Extensive knowledge of Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi techniques, knife skills, and ingredient handling.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Excellent attention to detail in food presentation and quality control.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Good understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
Creative flair for developing innovative sushi dishes that appeal to diverse tastes.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required. This position offers an engaging environment for culinary professionals passionate about Japanese cuisine, providing opportunities for growth whilst delivering exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

Pay: £12.21-£17.14 per hour
