Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of equipment and machinery across our operations. This role requires a strong mechanical background, proficiency with electrical systems, and experience with fabrication and welding. The Mechanic will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of our equipment, including heavy machinery such as excavators and forklifts. A proactive approach to maintenance and excellent problem-solving skills are essential to succeed in this position.

Responsibilities

Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery, vehicles and equipment to minimise downtime.
Diagnose faults using schematics, electrical diagrams, and mechanical knowledge.
Perform repairs on various equipment, including engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
Utilise hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to repair or modify machinery.
Fabricate parts or components as needed to support repairs or upgrades.
Solder electrical connections and interpret schematics for complex electrical systems.
Operate heavy machinery such as excavators and forklifts safely during maintenance procedures.
Assist with assembly of new equipment or components following technical specifications.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities.
Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company policies.
Support the team with customer service by providing timely repairs that minimise operational disruptions.

Skills

Proven experience in mechanical repair and maintenance within industrial or construction environments.
Strong knowledge of fabrication, welding, soldering, electrical systems, and schematics interpretation.
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other maintenance apparatus.
Experience with heavy machinery such as excavators and forklifts is highly desirable.
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
Good organisational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Strong communication skills for working within a team environment and liaising with clients if necessary.
Knowledge of safety procedures related to equipment repair and operation is essential.
