South West based charitable housing association BCHA was founded over 50 years ago with a continuing mission to meet housing need and end homelessness. BCHA are a diverse and growing specialist housing, learning and support provider. We are currently recruiting for Specialist Support Workers to join our team on the Liberty project.

BCHA work closely with the Salvation Army to provide support to survivors of ‘modern slavery’.

Position:

The Liberty Project is recruiting a Specialist Support Worker to join our team based in Bournemouth. This role is based within our safehouses & in the community. It offers a unique opportunity to work directly with survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking, supporting them to rebuild their lives and move towards independence, safety, and long-term recovery.

About the role

As a Specialist Support Worker, you will:

Provide trauma-informed, survivor-centred support
Build trusting relationships that empower survivors to make informed choices and regain independence
Support individuals to move forward into safe, stable, and abuse-free lives
Contribute to specialist anti-slavery work delivered on behalf of the Home Office

Key details

On-call: Participation in an on-call rota (paid in addition to salary)

A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.

Requirements:

provide weekly 1- 1 sessions with individual ‘survivors’ that are outcome focussed;
work within ‘professional boundaries’ and use trauma focused strategies;
listen to and build trust with ‘survivors’
work with complex needs, challenging behaviours and manage presenting risks;
be an advocate on behalf of ‘survivors’;
build good working relationships with agencies and liaise effectively;
empower ‘survivors’ to find their own way and promote independence;
be self-motivated, proactive, resilient, empathic and non-judgemental;

Other information:

Monday-Friday 9am-5pm with a share of the on call rota

Accommodation support worker

This role can be based from home anywhere in Wiltshire.
