Role purpose
Due to continued growth, an opportunity has arisen for a detail orientated Finance Assistant to join our friendly team .
Whilst this is advertised as a full time role, working Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, we are also open to those wishing to work on a part time basis (minimum of 22.5 hours per week, worked over three days to be agreed).
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the successful candidate will support the day-to-day finance operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in maintaining financial records. This position is ideally suited to somebody who has gained experience in a similar role. Please note that prior experience in using Xero accounting software is an essential requirement for this position.
Key responsibilities
Typical daily duties will include but are not limited to the following:
· Assisting with accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring the timely processing of invoices and customer payments.
· Maintaining accurate financial records using Xero software.
· Reconciling accounts and supporting the Finance Manager with the preparation of financial reports as required.
· Supporting month and year end closing activities.
· Chasing copies of supplier invoices and preparation of supplier payment runs for in readiness for management approval.
· Performing routine data entry tasks to update financial information efficiently.
· Working closely with various departments across the company, to resolve any queries as they arise.
· Acting as the main point of contact regarding outstanding invoices and promptly resolving any queries.
· Monitoring company credit card transactions.
· Updating the query log with issues linked to the non-approval of invoices for payment.
· Monitoring mailboxes and responding to e-mails in a professional and timely manner.
· Conducting general administrative activities to support the Finance Manager.
About you:
We are looking for somebody who:
· Is AAT qualified or qualified by experience.
· Has proven experience gained within a similar role.
· Is proficient in using Xero software.
· Has a hands-on approach with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
· Is detail orientated and able to maintain a high level of accuracy.
· Can multitask and work effectively between each business function.
· Can plan effectively and work to deadlines as required.
· Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
