Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicles. This role requires a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, with preferred 3 years experience. The ideal applicant will possess excellent problem-solving skills and a commitment to safety and quality standards. This position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic environment where your expertise will contribute directly to the efficiency and safety of our fleet operations.

Responsibilities

Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs, and other heavy equipment.
Diagnose faults; perform repairs accordingly.
Carry out minor fabrication/welding, soldering, as required for repairs or modifications.
Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to repair or replace components.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and repairs performed.
Assist with equipment upgrades or modifications to improve operational efficiency.
Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and industry standards.
Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with team members and clients regarding repair status or issues.
Perform heavy lifting tasks safely while adhering to manual handling procedures.

Qualifications

Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic or similar role specialising in heavy vehicle maintenance (at least 3 years).
Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience relevant to heavy machinery.
