Job description

2 year Fixed Term Contract

At Stroud District Council, we're committed to tackling anti-social behaviour (ASB), environmental crime and community safety issues to help create safer, more welcoming neighbourhoods. Working closely with the Police, local partners and residents, you'll play an important role in addressing issues that matter most to our communities.

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. From investigating fly-tipping and responding to reports of anti-social behaviour, to engaging with residents and supporting multi-agency initiatives, you'll be at the forefront of improving quality of life across the district.

What you'll be doing

Supporting the delivery of proactive and reactive initiatives to tackle anti-social behaviour, nuisance, crime and disorder across the district.
Working directly with residents to address concerns, provide reassurance and improve confidence in local services.
Delivering effective prevention, intervention and enforcement activities in partnership with internal teams and external agencies.
Collaborating with the Stroud District Community Safety Partnership, Community Safety Manager, Police and other stakeholders to identify and resolve complex community safety challenges.
Investigating reports of fly-tipping and environmental crime, gathering and documenting evidence, interviewing relevant parties and supporting enforcement action where appropriate.
Conducting site visits, patrols and community engagement activities to identify local issues and opportunities for improvement.
Contributing to the Council's vision of creating safer, stronger and more resilient communities.

What we're looking for

We're seeking someone who is proactive, confident and passionate about community safety. You'll be able to build positive relationships with a wide range of people whilst remaining professional and resilient when dealing with challenging situations.

You'll ideally have:

Experience of working with communities and engaging with diverse groups of people.
Experience of delivering projects or initiatives in partnership with multiple organisations.
Knowledge of anti-social behaviour legislation, enforcement processes or Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs).
The ability to investigate issues, gather evidence and maintain accurate records.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt your approach to different audiences.
The ability to work collaboratively with external partners to support the Council's priority of creating safer and stronger communities.
The ability to undertake the physical elements of the role, including foot patrols, site inspections and handling equipment when required.
