Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Materials Planner to join our operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating the flow of materials to support production requirements while maintaining efficient inventory levels.
This role plays a key part in ensuring uninterrupted production, improving inventory accuracy, and supporting the smooth running of our supply chain operations. The Materials Planner will work closely with procurement, warehouse, production, suppliers, and logistics teams to ensure materials are available at the right time and in the correct quantities.
Main Roles and Responsibilities
Materials Planning & Inventory Control
· Analyse production schedules and forecast material requirements.
· Create and maintain material plans based on customer demand and production needs.
· Monitor stock levels and identify potential shortages, delays, or excess inventory.
· Ensure efficient inventory management while supporting production continuity.
· Assist in reducing excess and obsolete stock levels.
Supplier & Procurement Coordination
· Work closely with purchasing teams to ensure timely procurement of materials.
· Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules, and lead times.
· Liaise with suppliers regarding shortages, delays, or material-related issues.
· Support the resolution of supply chain issues that may impact production schedules.
Production & Operational Support
· Collaborate with production, warehouse, and logistics teams to ensure material availability.
· Support production schedule adherence by maintaining accurate planning data.
· Review and update material master data within Microsoft Business Central systems.
· Generate inventory, planning, and performance reports for management.
Continuous Improvement & Reporting
· Support continuous improvement initiatives within supply chain and inventory processes.
· Identify opportunities to improve planning accuracy and operational efficiency.
· Assist with KPI monitoring including inventory accuracy, stock availability, and supplier performance.
· Maintain accurate records and planning documentation.

Essential Skills
· Previous experience in materials planning, inventory management, supply chain, or production planning.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
· Good understanding of inventory control and supply chain processes.
· Strong communication and organisational skills.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Skills
· Experience using Microsoft Business Central or Microsoft Dynamics 365.
· Understanding of MRP systems, forecasting, and inventory optimisation techniques.
· Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
· Experience with KPI reporting and dashboard tools.
· APICS / ASCM certifications such as CPIM would be advantageous.
