GRP Laminator / Composite Technician

Location: Asfordby, Melton Mowbray LE14 3RZ
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced GRP Laminator / Composite Technician to join our Composite Department.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled, quality-focused individual to join a growing manufacturing business. You will play an important role in producing high-quality GRP and composite components to support our commercial vehicle body manufacturing operation.

The Role

Working within a small and supportive team, you will be responsible for the preparation, lay-up and finishing of GRP composite components. You must be able to work independently when required, while maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and productivity.

Key responsibilities will include:

Preparing moulds for lay-up
Carrying out mould care, cleaning, and maintenance
Applying release agents
Applying gelcoat
Hand lay-up and laminating using GRP materials
Trimming, finishing, and preparing completed components
Using hand tools safely and effectively
Following job instructions, specifications, and quality requirements
Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised working area
Supporting the wider Composite Department as required

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have previous experience in GRP laminating, hand lay-up or composite manufacturing.

You will have:

Strong practical laminating skills
Experience working with a range of GRP and composite materials
Good attention to detail and pride in producing quality work
Confidence using hand tools and workshop equipment
The ability to follow instructions, drawings, and production specifications
The ability to work independently and manage your workload
A reliable, flexible, and positive approach to work
The ability to work to deadlines without compromising quality

Experience within vehicle body building, automotive manufacturing, marine, construction, moulding or other composite manufacturing environments would be advantageous.
