Transport Planner

Location: Tarmac The Hub, Mountsorrel, Leicestershire

Are you a skilled Fleet Planner who thrives in a fast-paced transport environment? Do you enjoy being part of a close-knit, supportive team? Would you like the chance to take ownership of fleet planning, customer service, logistics and operational performance at one of the UK's leading construction materials businesses?

What You'll Be Doing

As a Transport Planner you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of materials across the region. Working closely with customers, drivers, planners, hauliers and internal teams, you'll be at the centre of the operation, making real-time decisions and keeping deliveries moving.

Key responsibilities include:

Monitoring same-day deliveries and handling customer queries and complaints professionally and effectively
Planning next-day and future deliveries to maximise fleet efficiency
Managing inbound and outbound customer and driver communications
Proactively communicating delivery updates and service changes
Coordinating internal and external transport assets
Maintaining accurate records and operational data
Managing costs while delivering excellent service levels
Raising and escalating any safety concerns immediately
Building strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who enjoys working in a busy, challenging environment who can confidently manage competing priorities. Suitable candidates will have:

Previous experience in a fleet planning, transport planning, logistics coordination or scheduling role
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Ability to multitask, prioritise and work effectively under pressure
Strong customer service and telephone communication skills
Outstanding attention to detail
Confidence communicating with stakeholders at all levels
Collaborative approach and strong team-working skills
Commercial awareness and sound decision-making ability
Strong IT skills and experience using planning or scheduling systems
Knowledge of transport legislation (advantageous)
Geographical knowledge of the Midlands region (preferred)

This role is based at our modern Mountsorrel Hub location near Loughborough, Leicestershire which is easily accessible from Leicester, Melton Mowbray, Barrow upon Soar, Syston, Shepshed, Coalville, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Ibstock, Swadlincote, Measham, Tamworth, Atherstone, Hinckley, Nottingham, Derby, Long Eaton, Kegworth, Burton upon Trent and surrounding areas.
