CNC Operator & Programmer – Bespoke Furniture & WoodworkingJob Summary
We are seeking a skilled CNC Operator & Programmer to join our woodworking and bespoke furniture manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, operating, and maintaining CNC machinery used for bespoke cutting and furniture production. This role requires a strong understanding of woodworking machinery, CAD/CAM software, and manufacturing processes to ensure high-quality finishes and precise production. The ideal applicant will have experience working with wood-based materials, furniture components, and custom-made projects.
Responsibilities
- Programme CNC machines using CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks, Alphacam, AutoCAD, or other relevant tools
- Operate CNC equipment to produce bespoke furniture components and custom-cut panels according to technical drawings and specifications
- Carry out machining processes including cutting, drilling, routing, grooving, and edge preparation
- Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of CNC machinery to ensure optimal performance
- Assist with tooling setup, machine adjustments, and production changeovers
- Use hand tools and power tools for assembly, fitting, and finishing processes
- Read and interpret technical drawings, cutting lists, and production specifications accurately
- Work with a variety of materials including MDF, plywood, laminates, veneers, solid timber, and panel products
- Ensure finished products meet quality standards and customer expectations
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment in line with health and safety regulations
- Troubleshoot machine or production issues promptly to minimise downtime
- Support the manufacturing team with bespoke projects and custom furniture production
Requirements
- Proven experience as a CNC Operator & Programmer within woodworking, furniture manufacturing, or bespoke joinery environments
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and CNC programming
- Experience operating CNC routers and woodworking machinery
- Strong understanding of woodworking materials, tooling, and machining techniques
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and production plans accurately
- Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using hand tools and workshop equipment
- Good understanding of measurements, tolerances, and basic maths relevant to machining
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in woodworking, joinery, manufacturing, or engineering are advantageous
