About Us
Metering Technology Solutions (MTS), is one of the UK's leading IoT metering and monitoring providers. Every day we gather millions of data points that help businesses, public bodies and communities cut their energy and water use, reduce bills and run better services.
We give our customers a clear view behind the meter through the Meter Portal, so they can see exactly how, when and where they are consuming across water, gas and electricity. With over 30 years of experience, we are pioneers in smart metering, with deep expertise at every stage of the value chain: capturing, transmitting, processing, monitoring and analysing the data. We work with our clients as long-term partners, delivering an outstanding ongoing service that maximises their efficiency savings.
The Role
As an AMR/AMI (Smart Metering) Installer / Engineer, you will be a key part of our project delivery team. This is a hands-on, field-based role fitting our smart metering devices to customers' main revenue meters across water, gas and electricity, predominantly on commercial and public-sector sites.
Day to day you will be on site at business premises, retail units, hospitals, universities and similar locations, installing and commissioning the kit that brings each meter online and feeds high-quality data into the Meter Portal. The work is varied: locating and accessing meters, fitting and programming AMR/AMI devices, setting up the local networks that carry the data, and making sure everything reads correctly before you leave.
No previous smart metering experience is needed. This is a genuine earn-while-you-learn role with full on-the-job training, and you will gain recognised qualifications as you go. You will also have the opportunity to broaden across wider IoT monitoring, including heat, air quality and more.
You will manage your own appointments through our in-house planning system using a company-provided tablet and phone, and we supply everything you need to do the job, from uniform and PPE to a fully expensed company van.
Where You'll Be Working
This is a northern England role with a flexible home base around Greater Manchester. Your day-to-day patch covers the North West and Yorkshire, so most appointments will be within reach of home. You may travel further afield to support wider projects; where an overnight stay is needed, we cover accommodation and pay a meal allowance.
