With new and passionate Ultrasound Leads driving service development, we are seeking to recruit a dedicated and experienced Band 7 Vascular Sonographer with UK experience, AVS accreditation and registration with the College and Society for Clinical Vascular Science to join our friendly and forward-looking team. Main duties of the job
The role involves undertaking a full range of complex vascular investigations, including arterial, venous, carotid, aneurysm and graft surveillance, EVAR follow up and vasospastic testing. You will produce clear, accurate reports using the Trust's electronic systems and communicate any urgent findings to the vascular and stroke teams. The post requires an adaptable approach to scanning techniques to meet individual patient needs, alongside active contribution to service development, audit, research and wider clinical governance. You will also play a key part in supervising and supporting junior staff and assisting with the training of new team members.
The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.

Essential
AVS accreditation with the College and Society for Clinical Vascular Science
Independently and autonomously perform a full range of vascular diagnostic and surveillance ultrasound duplex scans including carotid, upper and lower limb arterial and venous, true and false aneurysms, temporal artery, thoracic outlet, bypass graft and stent surveillance, endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR), fistula scans
Perform ankle-brachial pressure index (ABPI) and toe-brachial index (TBI) assessment
Interpret and report results using specialized vascular knowledge, producing an overall diagnosis and identify and act on incidental and/or urgent findings appropriately
Lead the day-to-day clinical running of the department; triaging and prioritising workload, supervising junior staff, overseeing worklists/appointment diary and liaising with colleagues from multidisciplinary teams
Provide direct teaching, training and supervision to STP and vascular practitioner trainees.
Quality Improvement, transformation, and innovation training
Evidence of keeping informed of the current ultrasound techniques & practices via short courses & study days to underpin knowledge development
Knowledge of relevant national imaging standards (e.g., BMUS, IR(ME)R 2017, IRR '17 and associated codes of practice
Desirable
PG Dip in Obstetrics/ Gynaecology / General Medical Ultrasound
Experience in Obstetric, Gynaecology or Abdominal scanning
Short courses adding to CPD
Post qualification experience
Experience scanning diagnostic MSK, Baby Hips, Head and Neck or Paediatrics
