ASSISTANT MILKER position now available
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team near Taunton, Somerset. This is a full-time role and comes with a 1-bedroom mobile home in a nice position with double glazing, central heating, and a garden.
- The Farm: All-year-round calving dairy, 300-cow herd.
- The Setup: GEA/Westfalia 30:30 parlour, milking twice a day. 7 months grazed, 5 months housed.
This is the perfect stepping stone for a young worker looking to progress their career. Full training will be provided on our specific parlour routine and associated software.
Requirements:
Applicants must have either formal agricultural college training or practical experience working with dairy cattle—you must bring at least one of these to show a genuine interest in dairy farming.
What the job entails:
- Working alongside the head herdsman.
- Milking to a thorough standard following the on-farm routine.
- Monitoring cow health, welfare, and performance.
- Supporting fertility performance through heat detection software and AI.
- Grassland management, including measuring and allocating grazing.
- Keeping accurate records through software (Uniform Agri).
- Maintaining a clean and tidy workplace.
- Weekend work (as part of the rota).

- Takes pride in carrying out work to a high standard.
- Holds a full UK driving licence.
- Capable of working alone as well as part of a team.
- A desire to learn and advance knowledge and ability.
- Excellent timekeeping.
