Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Joiner/Carpenter to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing various wooden and other material structures on-site and in workshops. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on diverse projects, from residential to commercial builds, ensuring high standards of craftsmanship and safety. The ideal applicant will possess a strong background in carpentry and related trades, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate and assemble timber structures, fittings, and fixtures using hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications to execute projects accurately.
- Install carpentry components such as flooring, roofing, wall frames, doors, windows, and cabinetry on-site.
- Perform joinery tasks including cutting, shaping, fitting, and finishing woodwork with precision.
- Conduct maintenance tasks such as construction painting, masonry repairs, plumbing connections, or electrical installations as required.
- Assist with heavy lifting of materials and equipment safely to ensure smooth workflow on-site.
- Collaborate with other trades such as roofing specialists, masons, electricians, and plumbers to complete projects efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in carpentry or joinery within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in fabrication, assembly, and installation of wooden structures using hand tools and power tools.
- Knowledge of roofing techniques, masonry work, plumbing systems, electrical experience is desirable but not essential.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work at heights when necessary.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings and technical specifications.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in carpentry or related trades are advantageous but not mandatory.
