Lifeguard

Mer-Fin Swim Ltd | Shrewsbury, Shropshire

Mer-Fin Swim Ltd is a private swim school based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. We deliver high-quality, low-ratio swimming lessons for children aged 2 years+ following the Swim England Learn to Swim Pathway. We pride ourselves on excellent teaching standards and outstanding customer service for parents and carers.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and committed Lifeguard to join our swim team.

Hours

Thursdays and Sundays: 4:15pm – 7:45pm weekdays am or pm shift on Sundays
Ad hoc cover shifts available

Location

Prestfelde Preparatory School, SY2 6NZ

Contract Details

Self-employed basis
Immediate start available
DBS certificate is required due to working with children

Key Responsibilities

Assisting staff with pool set-up, including lane rope placement and removal
Monitoring the pool and surrounding areas to ensure the safety of all swimmers
Enforcing pool rules and safety regulations
Responding quickly and effectively to emergencies or incidents
Performing water rescues and administering first aid when required
Conducting regular poolside safety checks and identifying potential hazards
Maintaining accurate records of incidents, accidents, and daily activities
Providing excellent customer service to parents, carers, and pool users
Actively engage in 'water safety' weeks by demonstrating the role of a lifeguard to our swimmers

Essential Requirements

Current Lifeguard qualification
Strong swimming ability and sound knowledge of water safety procedures
Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable

Previous lifeguarding or related experience

Please note this role may involve additional duties as required to ensure the safety and well-being of all pool users.
