About Groomies
Groomies is an exciting new mobile grooming business launching across Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas. Our mission is to provide a premium, convenient, and stress-free grooming experience for both dogs and their owners, delivered directly to the client's doorstep in our fully equipped mobile grooming salon.
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Dog Groomer to become one of the founding members of our team. This is a unique opportunity to join a business at the very beginning of its journey and play a key role in shaping its future success.

The Role
Working independently from our state-of-the-art mobile grooming unit, you will provide high-quality grooming services to a loyal and growing client base throughout Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas.
You will be responsible for delivering exceptional grooming standards, outstanding customer service, and maintaining the highest levels of animal welfare.
Key ResponsibilitiesProfessional Grooming Services
- Carry out full grooming services including bathing, drying, clipping, scissoring, de-shedding, hand stripping, nail trimming and ear cleaning.
- Groom dogs to breed standards or individual client requirements.
- Handle dogs of all breeds, sizes and temperaments with confidence and care.
- Deliver a consistently high standard of finish and presentation.
Animal Health & Welfare
- Conduct basic health and welfare checks during appointments.
- Identify and communicate any concerns such as skin conditions, parasites, lumps, coat issues or abnormalities.
- Ensure all grooming practices promote the welfare, comfort and safety of the dog.
Customer Service
- Build strong relationships with clients and their pets.
- Consult with owners regarding grooming requirements and coat maintenance.
- Provide professional advice on home grooming, coat care and future appointments.
- Deliver an exceptional customer experience that encourages repeat business and referrals.
Mobile Salon Operations
- Maintain the cleanliness, presentation and organisation of the grooming vehicle.
- Manage equipment, products and stock levels.
- Assist with scheduling, client records and appointment management.
- Represent the Groomies brand professionally at all times.
Safety & Hygiene
- Maintain exceptional hygiene and cleanliness standards.
- Follow all health and safety procedures.
- Ensure the mobile salon remains a safe environment for dogs, clients and staff.
Skills & Experience
We're looking for someone who has:
- Extensive hands-on dog grooming experience.
- Excellent grooming, scissoring and styling skills across a variety of breeds and coat types.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage their own workload.
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
- A genuine passion for animal welfare and customer care.
- Confidence handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments.
Qualifications
- Level 3 Dog Grooming Qualification (or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Canine First Aid certification is preferred.
However, we recognise that some of the best groomers have built their expertise through years of practical experience. If you have a strong foundation in professional dog grooming and can demonstrate exceptional grooming standards, we are willing to invest in your continued development through additional training and qualifications.
Essential Requirements
- Previous professional dog grooming experience.
- Full UK driving licence with a clean or acceptable driving record.
- Ability to travel throughout Milton Keynes and surrounding areas.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Understanding of the Five Welfare Needs as outlined in the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
