Senior Bookkeeper

Part-Time | 3 days office based– Beaconsfield

£33-38k FTE DOE

As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Bookkeeper to join our Finance team.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled finance professional who enjoys taking ownership of financial processes and contributing to a growing, fast-paced business. Reporting into the Finance function, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end activities, managing VAT compliance, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the accounts function.

Key Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including bank reconciliations, journals, invoicing, supplier payments, and expense processing.
Maintain Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable ledgers.
Support month-end close processes, including accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, and journal postings.
Assist with project cost allocation and financial reporting.
Monitor aged debt and support credit control activities.
Prepare and submit VAT returns and maintain compliance records.
Liaise with internal stakeholders and external accounting partners as required.
Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and efficiencies.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

Proven experience in a Senior Bookkeeper or similar role.
Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and month-end processes.
Experience preparing VAT returns and performing reconciliations.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Proficiency in Xero.
The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Desirable Experience

Multi-entity or multi-country accounting experience.
Professional services or project-based business experience.
Knowledge of payroll processes and statutory requirements.
experience of CIS and construction industry desirable
