Software/Firmware Engineer

Department: Engineering
Reporting to: Electronics and Software Team Leader

The Software/Firmware (embedded software) Design Engineer will participate in the specification,
design, development and test of new products.

Security

Due to the nature of the work all candidates must be eligible to obtain security clearance to SC level

Main duties & responsibilties

Qualifications & Experience

Skills & Abilities

To work on software and firmware aspects of product design as part of the integrated engineering
team
- To produce design-related documentation. This may include, but is not limited to, specifications,
manuals, illustrations, costings and test procedures. Also to check and approve all documentation as
required
- To provide implementation strategies as required for the implementation or change of functions into
the equipment
- To maintain clear records of all design work.
- To operate in line with the Company’s ISO 9001:2015 system.
- To carry out any other related tasks as may be requested from time to time by the Engineering
Director..

Qualifications

An Engineering or Computer Science degree (2:1) or equivalent preferred

Experience

Experience of application development with: C# .NET
- Experience of C, C++ advantageous
- Experience of Android software development (Xamarin) advantageous
- Ability to think conceptually and translate design requirements into viable
technical solutions under minimal supervision
- Full software lifecycle experience (documentation, design, development,
testing and maintenance)
- Structured design methodology (UML or similar)
- Experience working within project team

Knowledge

Track record in producing high quality code in either an application or
embedded environment
- Stand-alone application development using C#, Visual Studio .net
- Electronics knowledge desirable
- Independent verification experience desirable
