Hillside Caravan Park is an award winning 9 acre park situated outside the village of Knayton, near Thirsk and Northallerton, North Yorkshire. Our family run site offers luxury facilities combined with stunning views of the surrounding countryside in a quiet and peaceful setting. We have excellent access to the North York Moors National Park, the East Yorkshire coast, many old market towns and the city of York, all from our idyllic location in the heart of Herriot country. The park caters for touring caravans & motorhomes, offers 'Glamping' in our luxury camping pods and we also have a cosy holiday cottage and luxury owner occupied lodges.
We are looking for a full-time Groundskeeper and Maintenance Operative to join us for the 2026 season.
The role will vary from day to day & cover a wide range of duties including:-
- General grounds maintenance including mowing grass, maintaining gravel areas, strimming, hedge trimming, clearing leaves, edging and litter picking.
- Upkeep of all garden areas and landscaping including shrub bed maintenance, planting, trimming and weeding.
- General maintenance and repair work on the touring caravan park, glamping pods and lodge park.
- Assisting with movement of caravans between the touring park and storage area.
- Maintaining equipment to keep it in good working condition.
- Washing caravans.
- Walking the park to ensure the park is presented and maintained to an excellent standard.
- Being friendly towards customers and creating a welcoming environment.
- This position involves manual work, including lifting and carrying equipment.
- Using computerised systems to manage workload and bookings
- Any other tasks management deemed necessary
Initial & ongoing training is provided in all aspects of the work as well as the safe usage of all equipment.
The ideal candidates will have:-
- A full, clean UK driving licence
- Experience in grounds maintenance work/horticultural tasks
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Reliable, enthusiastic, flexible & a strong work ethic
- Trustworthy
- Good communication skills
- Physically fit
- Basic computer skills
- A “Can do” attitude
- The ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to use agricultural machinery is desirable
We are looking for someone to work 3 or 4 days during the week as well as Saturday and Sunday mornings (or full days if available). Remuneration is negotiable depending on experience.
We are based in a rural location (Knayton, Thirsk) and therefore own transport is required in order to get to and from work.
Pay: From £24,784.50 per year
