Beaumont and Angus Construction, which forms part of a larger development group, is a fast-growing construction company seeking a capable and experienced Construction Buyer to join our dynamic team.
We are looking for a proactive and highly organised professional with significant procurement and construction industry experience to support the successful delivery of projects across our expanding portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, plant, and subcontract services, negotiating with suppliers, managing procurement schedules, and ensuring cost-effective purchasing strategies are implemented across all projects.
Working closely with project managers, site teams, suppliers, and subcontractors, the Construction Buyer will play a key role in maintaining project budgets, securing competitive pricing, and ensuring materials and resources are available when required to meet programme deadlines. The role will also involve developing and maintaining strong supplier relationships, monitoring market trends, and identifying opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
The successful candidate will ensure procurement activities are carried out in accordance with company procedures and industry best practice while supporting the continued growth and success of the business. Strong commercial awareness, excellent negotiation skills, and a keen eye for detail are essential.

Sourcing and Procurement: Working with the Site & Construction Managers and Quantity Surveyor. Identify and source reliable suppliers for various materials, and equipment required in the construction of residential schemes, ensuring a compliant and cost-effective supply.
- Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate favourable terms and conditions, and continuously evaluate their performance to ensure high-quality materials and on-time deliveries.
- Price Negotiation: Negotiate competitive pricing and favourable terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings while maintaining the required material quality standards.
- Purchase Order Management: Manage requisitions and generate purchase orders in the company system accurately and promptly, ensuring all details are correct and consistent with established procurement policies and procedures. Receipting goods and services and dealing with any invoice queries.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the construction team to ensure materials meet established quality standards and specifications.
- Market Research: Keep abreast of market trends, pricing fluctuations, and emerging materials to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Risk Management: Identify potential supply chain risks and implement strategies to mitigate them effectively.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of procurement activities, including supplier contracts, purchase orders, and procurement schedules. Provide regular reports on procurement performance to management.
Skills
- Proficiency in ERP systems including Quickbooks
- Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of securing favourable terms
- Knowledge of logistics management and supply chain optimisation within the construction industry
- Experience with merchandising and procurement processes specific to large-scale projects
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data from various ERP platforms to inform decision-making
- Good communication skills for liaising with suppliers, internal teams, and stakeholders
- Prior experience working within construction procurement or related fields is highly desirable

Pay: £45,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
