Velorum Property is a York-based residential property company, founded in 2015, specialising in student accommodation. We manage our properties directly, focusing on clear communication, consistency, and high standards of service. We are a small, owner-managed business, offering:

Role Overview

We are looking for a reliable, hands-on Maintenance Technician to support the day-today upkeep of our properties in York.

This is a practical, varied role focused on general maintenance, repairs, and keeping properties clean, safe, and well-presented for tenants.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out general maintenance and repairs (basic plumbing, lighting, decorating)
General upkeep of properties, including painting, touch-ups, and repairs
Maintain outdoor areas: mowing lawns, trimming hedges, keeping grounds tidy
Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner
Perform routine inspections and identify issues early
Keep clear records of completed work
Liaise with contractors for larger or specialist works (e.g. gas, electrical, structural building works)
Ensure properties are maintained to a high standard of safety and presentation

Requirements

Proven experience in maintenance / handyman / property upkeep
Strong practical skills across general repairs and DIY
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
Reliable, organised, and detail-oriented
Professional communication style when interacting with tenants and colleagues
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential)

Desirable

Experience working in residential property or lettings
Basic understanding of compliance / health & safety

Working Hours

Full-time, Monday to Friday (approx. 37.5 hours)

Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to handle urgent issues or tenant needs

Location

Based in York, working across a local portfolio of properties

This role suits someone who enjoys hands-on, varied work across multiple properties, rather than a specialist trade role. Please apply only if you have relevant maintenance experience.
