Full job description

Help Young People Re-engage, Grow and Succeed

At Wild Intervention, we work with young people who are struggling to engage with mainstream education and traditional services.

Through community-based alternative provision, mentoring and targeted interventions, we support young people to build confidence, develop life skills, improve educational engagement and achieve positive outcomes.

No two days are the same. You may be delivering a gym session, supporting educational work in the community, helping a young person prepare for employment, running an outdoor activity, attending a professional meeting or simply being a consistent positive role model for a young person who needs one.

We believe relationships come first. Everything we do starts with building trust.

The Role

As a Young People's Outreach Mentor, you will work directly with young people aged 8+ on a one-to-one or small group basis.

You will support young people who may experience:

Social, emotional and mental health needs
SEND
School attendance difficulties
Challenging behaviour
Low confidence and self-esteem
Family or social challenges

Your role is to engage, motivate and support young people through meaningful activities, positive relationships and tailored interventions.

What You'll Be Doing

Building positive and professional relationships with young people
Delivering community-based outreach sessions
Supporting educational engagement and personal development
Acting as a positive role model
Promoting safeguarding and wellbeing at all times
Transporting young people to activities where required
Completing session reports, risk assessments and safeguarding records
Working closely with schools, families and partner agencies
Helping young people identify and achieve personal goals

We also welcome applicants with transferable skills and relevant life experience who can demonstrate an ability to build positive relationships with young people.

Essential Requirements

Full UK Driving Licence
Access to a suitable vehicle
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and manage your own time
Ability to remain calm under pressure
Good written record keeping skills
Understanding of professional boundaries
Commitment to safeguarding children and young people

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

Level 3 qualification in Education, Childcare, Youth Work, Residential Childcare, Health & Social Care or similar
Experience working with young people with SEND
Experience managing challenging behaviour
First Aid qualification
Safeguarding training
