Accounts & Payroll Manager
Sticky Baits, one of the UK's leading bait manufacturers, is looking for an experienced Accounts Manager with strong Sage software skills to join our expanding team.
You'll be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of the business, processing both weekly and monthly payrolls, preparing VAT returns, producing management accounts for the Managing Director, and preparing financial information in readiness for our external Chartered Accountant. You'll play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, ensuring compliance, and supporting the continued growth of the business.

What You'll Be Doing
- Managing the day-to-day accounting function, including reconciliations and supplier payments.
- Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports for the Managing Director.
- Preparing financial records and supporting documentation for the external Chartered Accountant, including year-end accounts preparation.
- Preparing and submitting accurate VAT returns.
- Processing both weekly and monthly payrolls, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Maintaining employee payroll records and statutory payroll obligations.
- Managing cash flow, bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, increase efficiency and support business growth.
- Playing an active role in the company's digital transformation by helping implement and improve new finance systems and processes.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant financial legislation and company procedures.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in an Accounts Manager or similar finance role.
- Strong working knowledge of Sage 200, Sage Payroll and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience preparing management accounts, VAT returns and year-end accounting information.
- Experience processing both weekly and monthly payrolls.
- Excellent organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- A proactive, forward-thinking mindset with a genuine enthusiasm for continuous improvement.
- Someone who enjoys change, embraces new technology and is excited by opportunities to improve systems and processes.
- The ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or production environment is desirable.
- Experience working with manufacturing systems or ERP software would be advantageous but is not essential.
