Role Outline:
As an Assistant Management Accountant, you will support the finance team in the preparation of management accounts, financial reports, and budgeting processes. You will actively engage in knowledge sharing and seek regular feedback to ensure accuracy and continuous learning. This role provides hands-on experience and structured development opportunities to support your progression.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis, for review by the Finance Director.
- Prepare VAT reporting information and draft submissions for review and approval.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting processes by gathering data and performing basic financial analysis and preparing forecasts for review.
- Prepare and continuously improve weekly and quarterly cash forecasting
- Prepare accruals, prepayments, and journal entries for review.
- Reconcile key balance sheet accounts, ensuring discrepancies are identified, raised and resolved in a timely manner.
Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
- Work closely with senior finance colleagues to understand key financial processes and best practices.
- Share knowledge gained with peers and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Assist in developing process documentation and training materials to improve efficiency and knowledge retention.
- Engage in cross-departmental communication to better understand business performance and support decision-making.
- Identify and work with the business to adopt current industry & market best practice principles in line with accounting standards
Accuracy & Work Review
- Regularly seek feedback from senior team members and proactively request reviews of work completed.
- Double-check calculations and reconcile figures to ensure high levels of accuracy.
- Follow financial controls and compliance procedures, ensuring work adheres to internal and external standards.
- Address any errors or discrepancies identified in reviews and apply lessons learned to future work.
Development & Continuous Learning
- Work towards a recognised accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) with support from the company.
- Take an active role in training sessions and professional development opportunities.
- Stay updated with relevant accounting standards, financial regulations, and best practices.
- Seek mentorship from experienced colleagues and proactively apply learning to daily tasks.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Eagerness to learn and develop within a finance role.
- Excellent communication skills, with a willingness to share knowledge and collaborate.
- Organised and able to manage multiple tasks with a proactive approach.
- Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Some prior experience in a finance-related role is desirable but not essential.
- Studying towards, or willingness to study towards, a professional accounting qualification.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial reporting concepts.
3 days per week - Ideally Monday to Wednesday and Salary advertised pro rata
Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
