Summary and overview of the role:
Responsible for providing strategic and operational quality leadership across major nuclear projects. The role is to ensure that all project activities meet the highest standards of nuclear safety, compliance and assurance, Including developing project specific strategies, providing quality governance, managing supply chain quality and support the project team. The Quality Engineer is the primary point of authority for quality with projects, promoting nuclear safety culture, compliance with industry standards and the driving force behind continuous improvement.
Minimum Essential Qualifications/ Experience and Role Requirements:
- Experience as a Quality Manager of Senior Quality Engineer within the nuclear or other highly regulated industry Experience within large engineering projects
- Experience conducting audits, internal and with suppliers Lead Auditor qualification
Competencies:
- Strong understanding of nuclear safety and regulatory expectations
- Knowledge of quality standards (ISO 9001)
- Skilled in audit planning and execution
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the development and implementation of Quality Plans aligned and in accordance with nuclear regulatory requirements, client requirements, ISO 9001 and CORE Nuclear Solutions Quality Management System.
- Ensure the QMS is documented, communicated and actively applied across all departments and project types, with procedures that reflect the actual scope and complexity of CORE's work.
- Review and approve quality-related elements of all quotations before issue, including the correct assignment of Quality Grade (QG01 to QG04) in accordance with client, regulatory and CQRM requirements.
- Plan and deliver quality assurance activities, including audits (internal and supplier), inspections and independent reviews.
- Support the quality team with quality record requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review and approve Inspection and Test Plans, supplier quality documents and NCR’s
- Manage non-conformances, corrective and preventative actions and continuous improvement activities.
- Oversee supplier qualification, audits, and ongoing performance monitoring.
- Attend project kick-off meetings as the quality authority, confirming quality requirements, hold points, documentation obligations and supply chain quality expectations.
- Prepare quality performance reports and provide subject‑matter expertise to project management and client stakeholders.
- Establish governance to ensure project management tools (Planner, SharePoint etc.) accurately reflect actual quality status and deliverable completion at all times.
