About the Job
We’re looking for an ambitious Youth Learning Coach to deliver education, employability and esports programmes that re-engage young people and create positive life pathways across Gloucester.
Our new esports programme launches in September 2026 and is designed to re-engage young people across Gloucester, helping them reconnect with education, build confidence and develop future pathways.
You will be highly skilled in building positive, professional relationships with a diverse range of participants, from children and young people to adults. As a confident communicator, you will be able to engage individuals from different backgrounds, with varying needs and levels of motivation.
In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting participants to develop their knowledge, skills and self-belief. By creating inclusive, supportive and engaging environments through sport and esports, you will help individuals re-engage with learning, develop essential life skills and explore meaningful next steps for their future.
What We’re Looking For
Experience working with children and young people (and ideally adults) in education, youth work, or community settings.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
Experience supporting individuals with a range of needs, including those at risk of disengagement.
A passion for using sport, physical activity, or esports as a tool for engagement and development
Confidence in managing behaviour and maintaining a safe, inclusive environment
Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to take initiative in both delivery and project work

Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge
Essential
Qualifications:
Relevant Level 2 or 3 qualifications in Youth Work.
A strong understanding of safeguarding procedures within school or other settings
Experience of supporting and mentoring young people in an education or community setting.
Experience of working with and supporting vulnerable people
Educated to a minimum of 'GCSE' standard or equivalent and preferably with at least five GCSEs at grade C or above.
A friendly, positive ‘can do’ and courteous attitude.
Desirable
Minimum 2 years of experience supporting young people in education or community settings.
Experience in sports coaching or delivering physical education programmes.
Experience of coaching Rugby Union to young people and adults in a range of environments.
Minimum Standards
Outside of the essential requirements for the role, we must comply with the minimum standards set by our governing bodies. All employees must meet these standards when working for us and we will provide the necessary training where required.
*England Ruby Coaching Award (ERCA or Level 2 equivalent)
*First Aid certification
*Safeguarding Qualification
*Prevent Training
*Current DBS
*RFU’s Minimum Standards (In Touch, Head Case, etc.)
Current Driving License with no more than six points
Access to a vehicle
*If you do not meet this requirement, we can provide the training, but we would expect you to be compliant within six months.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £26,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
