Contracted as: Self-employed contractor (with own insurance)
Pay: Pay scale will vary from £120-£140 per session depending on the nature of the session.

Location: Halwell, nr Totnes with the potential to work at other sites in South Devon.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensuring health and safety and safeguarding standards are maintained
- Provide support to other staff that may need additional support
- Ensure opportunities to meet EHCP targets.
- Report writing (for SEND sessions)
- Ensure opportunities are provided for learners based on their need and lead
- Ability to be flexible to the learning environment
- Building rapport and understanding with individual learners.
- Supporting the delivery of nature-based activities in groups, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for the young people involved
- Undertaking basic tasks relating to nature-based activities
- Helping set up and pack down sessions
- Carry out other ad-hoc tasks as requested by the session Leader
Purpose of Role
We are looking to build on our already amazing team of bank of session facilitators to support our leaders in working with groups of children in an outdoor setting.
Currently Wild Embers run a variety of programmes, including; term time support for small groups of children, 1;1 and 2:1 intervention.
We run a series of community based sessions, including SEND family days, Retreats, SEND holiday clubs, Community Days and Fire Circles. Sessions run weekdays, weekends and in school holidays.
Our sessions tend to run for between 5-6 hours. In addition to this our SEND sessions require an hour of report writing post session. Session timings can vary, you will need to be available between the hours of 9.30am - 4.30pm.

Person Specification
- Experience of and an ability to work with children and young people who may have special education needs, social, emotional and mental health needs, and challenging behaviour, and to do this with sensitivity and respect - THIS IS A MUST.
- Understand the needs of vulnerable children, young people and their families and the difficulties faced by disadvantaged groups in accessing services.
- Ability to deal empathetically and sensitively with confidential information and with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
- Willingness to follow instructions and carry out tasks as required by your session leader.
- Ability to effectively work as part of a team.
- Report writing skills - a good level of literacy and numeracy required.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding and Equality and Diversity.

- Understanding the benefits of nature-based activities to young people and adults
- Willingness to complete Statutory SEND Training and attend any additional training required to develop you in your role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour effectively.
- On occasion you may be needed to cover at short notice.
- Willingness to work weekends, week days and school holidays.
- Happy to work outdoors in all weather and provide suitable clothing for yourself.
- A natural ability to attune to, understand, listen and care for children.
- A full, clean driving licence valid in the UK.
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
- Safeguarding training (level 2 minimum) OR willingness to undertake this training.
- First Aid training OR willingness to undertake this training.
