Overview
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Plating Technician to join our metal finishing department at our factory based in Halstead, Essex.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out plating processes to the desired specifications, whilst maintaining high standards of quality, safety and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate zinc plating and electroless nickel plating lines safely and efficiently.
- Prepare metal components for plating through cleaning, de-burring, blasting, rinsing and inspection.
- Monitor and maintain plating bath parameters, including temperature, pH, concentration and solution levels.
- Load and unload work in accordance with process specifications.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Record production data, process checks and quality documentation accurately.
- Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping of plating equipment and work areas.
- Assist with chemical additions and process control under supervision.
- Follow all health, safety, environmental and quality procedures.
- Work closely with production, quality and engineering teams to resolve process issues and improve efficiency.
Essential Requirements
- Ability to read and follow work instructions and technical specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Good level of physical fitness, as this is a hands-on role involving manual handling and standing for extended periods.
Desirable
- Experience in zinc plating, electroless nickel plating or a related metal finishing process.
- Good understanding of surface preparation and plating principles.
- Chemical handling and COSHH awareness.
Location & hours
- This is a full-time position available immediately, based at our factory in Halstead, Essex.
- Working hours are Monday - Thursday 8:45am – 5:30pm, Friday 8:30am - 1:00pm and there will be opportunity for paid overtime during busy periods.
