Clearstone Facilities Group Limited is recruiting reliable, practical and service-focused Leisure Assistants to support the launch and ongoing operation of new gym, football and padel facilities at a high-quality tenant amenity site in Thurrock, Essex.
This is a varied, hands-on role for someone who enjoys working in a leisure, fitness or sports environment and takes pride in keeping facilities clean, safe, organised and ready for use.
You will help ensure the gym, padel court and football pitch are properly presented throughout the day. You will complete routine checks, support users, monitor bookings and report any defects, damage or health and safety concerns.
This is not a personal training role. The focus is on facility presentation, safety, customer service and the smooth day-to-day operation of the leisure areas.
The role would suit someone with experience in a gym, leisure centre, sports facility, health club, hotel, hospitality or another customer-facing operational environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- Ensuring the gym, football pitch and padel court are ready for use
- Carrying out checks before and after facility bookings
- Making sure football and padel areas are clear, tidy and professionally presented
- Wiping down gym machines, equipment and touchpoints
- Tidying, organising and returning gym equipment to the correct locations
- Supporting routine safety and presentation checks throughout the day
- Identifying and reporting defects, damage, hazards, misuse or maintenance issues
- Completing daily checklists, logs and basic reporting sheets accurately
- Welcoming users and responding to general enquiries
- Helping users understand booking and facility procedures
- Supporting the smooth running of gym, football and padel bookings
- Keeping all leisure areas clean, organised and safe
- Carrying out litter picking around the football and padel areas
- Supporting opening and closing routines
- Checking that equipment and facilities are secure at the end of the day
- Escalating accidents, incidents and concerns in line with site procedures
- Working closely with the Front of House team, Clearstone management and other site teams
- Helping maintain a consistently high-quality experience for all facility users
Previous Experience
Previous experience in one or more of the following areas would be beneficial:
- Gym assistant
- Leisure centre assistant
- Sports facility assistant
- Facilities assistant
- Health club or fitness club support
- Hotel leisure or spa support
- Sports venue or grounds support
- Customer service
- Hospitality
- Cleaning or operational support within a live environment
- Recreation or community sports facilities
Previous leisure or gym experience is desirable but not essential.
Applications are also welcomed from candidates with strong customer service, hospitality, cleaning or facilities experience who are reliable, practical and comfortable working in an active environment.

- Willingness to complete site induction and health and safety training
- Availability to work weekday and weekend shifts on an agreed rota
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
The following would be advantageous:
- First aid training
- Previous gym or leisure facility experience
- Basic health and safety training
- Experience using booking systems or digital checklists
- Experience working in sports, fitness, leisure, hotel or hospitality environments
- Experience completing opening and closing checks
- An interest in fitness, sport or wellbeing
Working Pattern
The leisure facilities are expected to operate:
- Monday to Friday: 7:00am–10:00pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 8:00am–6:00pm
The weekend shifts will be:
- Early shift: 8:00am–1:00pm
- Late shift: 1:00pm–6:00pm
Applicants must be comfortable working a mixture of early, late and weekend shifts according to the agreed rota.
