Full job description

Join us as a Digital Skills Volunteer and make a real difference. In this rewarding role, you’ll support our staff and volunteers to build confidence using everyday digital tools like Microsoft Teams, Word, and Excel, providing friendly one-to-one guidance and troubleshooting. With flexible 3 to 4 hour shifts, full training, and expenses covered, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop your own skills while empowering others in a supportive hospice environment. If you’re patient, approachable, and passionate about helping people grow their digital confidence, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll provide:

One-to-one support for staff or volunteers, helping them build confidence using Office 365 applications.
In-person guidance and troubleshooting to resolve issues and answer digital skills queries.
A welcoming and inclusive learning environment where individuals feel comfortable asking questions and developing new skills.
Collaborative support alongside the Learning & Organisational Development team, using digital training to boost creativity and help colleagues work more efficiently and effectively.

Who We’re Looking For

We’d love to hear from you if you:

Demonstrate a good working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and other Office applications.
Communicate clearly and build strong relationships, with the ability to explain complex information in a friendly and accessible way.
Show patience and curiosity when supporting individuals who may be less confident with technology.
Bring a passion for learning and a genuine desire to help others develop their digital skills.
Offer experience in teaching, coaching, or mentoring. This is beneficial but not essential.

Can offer one morning or afternoon per week (a few hours still make a big difference!)

Important Information

Volunteers must be aged 16 or over

All volunteers are required to complete:
- Volunteer Statutory Training (3 hours)
- Ashgate Hospice Volunteer Induction (3 hours)
Local role-specific training will be provided
Confidentiality around patient and hospice information is essential
This role will require a standard DBS to be completed
