We’re looking for an enthusiastic and organised Digital Communications & Marketing Assistant to support our busy Corporate Communications team. This role plays a key part in helping deliver high‑quality digital content, events support and marketing activity that promotes the Council’s priorities and strengthens our reputation with residents.
You’ll work across a wide variety of communication channels and projects, supporting colleagues across the communications, marketing and events teams.

About the role
In this role, you’ll support the smooth running of our communication and marketing activity, helping to ensure our content reaches the right people at the right time. You’ll be involved in both digital and administrative tasks that keep our work moving efficiently.
Key responsibilities include:

Maintaining databases and mailing lists and preparing mailouts.
- Assisting with distributing communications across social media, email newsletters and other channels.
- Supporting communication, marketing and events programmes — including attending events when required.
- Producing content such as photography, video and newsletters
- Carrying out general administrative tasks including mail handling, filing and photocopying.
- Processing invoices and supporting basic finance processes.
- Helping to gather and analyse campaign performance data
- Coordinating communication systems such as content calendars, project plans and photo libraries.
About you
You’ll be someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, with the confidence to support a wide range of colleagues and external stakeholders. You’ll bring strong organisational skills and a willingness to learn and grow within a communications role.
We’re looking for:

English and Maths GCSE/O‑Level/NVQ or equivalent.
- Strong ICT skills, particularly in Word and Excel.
- At least one year’s experience within communications, marketing or events.
- The ability to set up and maintain filing and distribution systems.
- An understanding of basic financial processes.
- The ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- Confidence to act as a first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
- A proactive, team‑focused approach, with the ability to work independently when needed.
