Purpose of Role
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Production Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of our adhesive manufacturing line. This role helps ensure the safe, efficient production of adhesive products by assisting with material handling, machine operation, packaging, quality checks, and housekeeping throughout the production area.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, demonstrate strong attention to detail, follow health and safety procedures at all times, and work effectively as part of a team.
Working Hours
- 3 shift rotating pattern with the first shift starting Sunday night: 22.00pm-06.00am, 06.00am-14.00pm, 13.00pm-22.00pm (17.00pm finish on Fridays). Shift premium is applied for hours worked during 18.00pm-06.00am.
- Willing to do overtime when required (which could include 12-hour shifts and weekend work). Enhanced overtime rates offered.
- This Department has a mandatory 2-week shutdown over the summer period (July-August) which will be deducted from holiday entitlement.
Responsibilities
- Package finished adhesive products into a variety of carton and crate sizes according to production requirements
- Monitor puller and cutter equipment to ensure correct operation and continuous production flow
- Ensure adhesive is feeding correctly through the production line and that sleeves are removed where applicable
- (Line 1, 2 & 3) To constantly monitor and control the flow/speed of the Adhesive from the extruder head, using the TV and speed controls
- (Line 4) To constantly monitor and control the flow, speed and pressures
- Prepare labels and packaging materials for current and upcoming production runs, including handover preparation for the next shift
- Monitor the production line to ensure smooth workflow and report issues to the Shift Supervisor or Lead Hand
- Assist with stock checks and inventory counts as required
- Maintain high housekeeping standards, including keeping the workspace clean, organised, and supporting raw material storage management
- Cut 43mm adhesive products when required
- Support the repack team with packing smaller quantities of adhesive to fulfil customer orders
- Ensure efficient and effective shift handovers between teams
- Lifting boxes and bags of up to 25kg
Skills & Competencies
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in relation to quality control checks including product length, size, print quality, ovality, cut accuracy, pallet selection, and carton weights
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and support colleagues across shifts
- Calm, reliable, and professional under pressure
- Strong commitment to health & safety, quality standards, and continuous improvement
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload in a busy production environment
Experience
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment is desirable
- Experience working rotating shifts is advantageous
- Good awareness of workplace safety procedures
- Reliable attendance, punctuality, and a positive work ethic are essential
