Pavers Group is looking for an experienced Finance Director to join our Board and help drive the next phase of our growth. This is an opportunity to make a real impact, combining strong financial leadership with commercial insight and a passion for continuous improvement.

We're looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with the credibility to operate at Board level, lead a high-performing finance team and provide trusted strategic advice. Alongside ensuring first-class financial reporting and governance, you'll challenge existing ways of working, deliver efficiencies and help shape the future of the business through transformation, technology and innovation.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Role Purpose

The Finance Director leads the Group's finance function and is a key member of our Board. You'll own the integrity of our financial accounting, reporting and control. We want someone who is technically excellent and hands-on, a safe pair of hands on the fundamentals, but who won't stop there. We're looking for genuine initiative and the confidence to question how things have always been done, and to turn that challenge into real efficiency and cost reduction across the Group.

This isn't a caretaker role. It's for someone who keeps the numbers right and pushes us to be better.

We trade through the Pavers and Jones Bootmaker brands across roughly 200 stores, home shopping and marketplace channels. The Person

What We Offer

The Pavers story began in York in 1971 when Catherine Paver took out a £200 bank loan (for a sofa she told them) to fund her new business. She had big dreams of changing the world of footwear and a passion to provide comfortable and stylish shoes for all.

Starting small, she sold shoes at village halls and homeware parties before opening the first Pavers shop in Scarborough in 1981, when Catherine’s three sons joined the business. One of her sons, Stuart, ran the business as Managing Director for over 40 years, joined by his son Jason in 2016. As of September 2023, Jason Paver is now the Managing Director of Pavers Ltd, with Stuart Paver moving to Chairman, taking the company into the 3rd generation of family run leadership.

From these modest beginnings, Pavers Shoes has grown to be a UK leader in today’s footwear industry, with over 180 stores nationwide encompassing our more recently acquired brands including Jones Bootmaker, Herring Shoes, Padders & Van Dal.

We remain acquisitive, highly profitable, and are an ever-growing, independent family-run business, employing over 1,900 people.
