Position Summary: A Pond Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of ponds, water features, and aquatic systems. They ensure the health of aquatic life, water quality, and the overall aesthetic and functionality of the water features. This role involves a mix of technical, physical, and customer service duties.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Installation and Construction:
- Design and construct ponds, fountains, and water features.
- Install filtration systems, pumps, and other aquatic equipment.
- Ensure proper plumbing, electrical work, and landscaping integration.
2. Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform regular water quality tests to monitor pH, ammonia, nitrates, and other parameters.
- Clean pond surfaces, remove debris, and perform algae control.
- Diagnose and repair issues with pumps, filters, and plumbing systems.
- Maintain aquatic plant health and trim overgrowth.
3. Aquatic Life Care:
- Monitor and manage the health of fish and other aquatic species.
- Address any illnesses or imbalances in the aquatic ecosystem.
- Provide proper feeding and care regimens for aquatic life.
4. Customer Interaction:
- Communicate with clients to understand their needs and preferences.
- Educate clients on proper pond care and maintenance routines.
- Provide recommendations for upgrades or improvements to pond systems.
5. Other Duties:
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Keep accurate records of services provided and materials used.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of plumbing, electrical systems, and aquatic biology.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with aquatic systems.
- Physical Stamina: Capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting and working in outdoor environments.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring high-quality work and maintaining aesthetic standards.
- Communication Skills: Excellent customer service and the ability to explain technical information clearly.
Preferred Experience and Certifications:
- Previous experience in pond maintenance, landscaping, or a related field.
- Knowledge of aquatic systems and fish health management.
- Certifications in aquatic management, landscaping, or similar disciplines are a plus.
Work Environment:
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- May involve travel to multiple client locations.
- Flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, based on client needs.
Additional Requirements:
- As we are a small team, from time to time you may be required to carry out reasonable and relevant tasks that fall outside of your positions remit.
- Within reason, you may be required to work outside of your standard contracted hours to meet the needs of the business.
- As part of your ongoing development, you may be required to undertake training in order to meet the requirements of your role.
Pay: £23,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
