Kennford Tarmacadam Ltd is a family-owned and operated business and one of the leading highway maintenance contractors in Devon based near Exeter. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a professional and reliable LGV Driver to join our team transporting plant and equipment to sites across Devon.
This role is ideal for an experienced HGV/LGV driver who takes pride in operating safely, maintaining high standards, and delivering excellent service to both colleagues and customers.

Role Overview
As an LGV Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of plant machinery and equipment to construction and highway maintenance sites throughout Devon. Typical loads include excavators, dumpers, rollers, pavers, and other plant machinery, with occasional transportation of materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate LGV/HGV vehicles safely and efficiently (low loader, hook loader)
- Transport plant machinery including excavators, dumpers, rollers, pavers, and associated equipment
- Occasionally transport materials to and from sites
- Carry out and record DVSA daily vehicle checks
- Ensure vehicles remain roadworthy, compliant, and well-maintained
- Secure loads correctly and safely in accordance with legal requirements
- Communicate effectively with site supervisors, customers, and our transport office
- Complete all relevant transport documentation accurately
- Adhere to all road traffic legislation, company policies, and health and safety procedures
- Represent Kennford Tarmacadam professionally when interacting with customers and the public
Essential Requirements
- Valid LGV/HGV Licence
- Valid Driver CPC Qualification
- Digital Tachograph Card
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Good understanding of vehicle safety and compliance requirements
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Professional and safety-conscious approach to work
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience operating low loader vehicles
- Experience transporting plant machinery within construction, highways, or related industries
- Knowledge of plant loading, securing, and transportation procedures
- Plant operation experience would be advantageous
