Overview
Brewster Brothers are seeking a skilled and reliable Machine Operator – Excavator to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating excavator machinery (8 tonne and above) in a safe, efficient, and professional manner, supporting the day-to-day operations across site.
The role will be based in our Gartshore site in Twechar (near Cumbernauld).
Working hours are 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 7am to 4:30pm. Overtime will be required during peak business periods, including weekends.
This role requires a proactive and safety-conscious individual who can work effectively within a team, support general site operations including material handling, and contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and productive working environment.

Duties
Operate excavator machinery safely and efficiently to move, load, and manage materials in line with site requirements.
Carry out daily inspections of the excavator, ensuring any defects or issues are promptly reported to the Site Manager.
Undertake routine maintenance tasks including fuelling, oil and water checks, and greasing.
Work in coordination with other plant operatives and site personnel to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping, ensuring the site is kept clean, safe, and organised at all times.
Follow all Health & Safety procedures and report any incidents, near misses, or hazards to the Site or SHEQ Manager.
Support continuous improvement by highlighting opportunities to improve efficiency, safety, and performance.
Work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute positively to the site environment.
Requirements
Valid driver’s licence with access to own transport to travel to site.
Proven experience operating minimum 8 tonne 360 excavators within a construction, quarry, or recycling environment.
Valid certification or licence for excavator operation.
Good working knowledge of health and safety practices relating to plant operation.
Basic mechanical knowledge with the ability to identify and report equipment issues.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and adapt to changing operational demands.
Strong attention to detail, particularly in relation to machine checks and record keeping.
Level of fitness appropriate for the physical aspects of the role.
Pay: £32,760.00 per year
