Job Description:
Phillips Opticians is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-Time Optical Assistant to join our team. This position will primarily be based at our Newbridge and Blackwood practices, with occasional assignments at our Risca, Pontypool, and Caerleon locations.
The successful candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, delivering exceptional customer service. Key responsibilities include performing various administrative tasks such as NHS form submission, record keeping, processing credit card payments, and filing. Proficiency in IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office and Google Sheets, is essential.
Additionally, the role involves assisting patients with frame selection and eventually measuring for lens suitability. The ideal candidate will be friendly, organised, and efficient, with a strong aptitude for both office and retail environments.

Your Role
As the first point of contact for our valued patients, you will play a crucial role in providing a warm and welcoming experience.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Greeting patients upon arrival at the practice.
- Handling administrative tasks, including processing paperwork and managing IT systems.
- Advising patients on frame selection and lens suitability.
- Responding to patient queries via telephone, email, and in person.
- Scheduling appointments.
Skills
- Exceptional customer service skills with a polite and professional manner.
- Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office, Google Sheets, and bespoke optical programs (training will be provided)

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have experience in retail and customer-facing roles, along with administrative experience. While experience as an Optical Assistant is desirable, it is not essential.
Additional Information
- This role may require working on Saturdays, as scheduled in advance on a rota basis.

- Hours: 09:00-17:00, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (30 hours per week)
- Salary: £12.71 per hour
- Location: Primarily NP11 4ET and NP12 1AA
