Job Description
Role Title: First Aid & Health and Safety Trainer (must hold a valid teaching qualification)
Role Purpose:
To deliver high-quality compliance based training in line with UK legislation, awarding body requirements, and best practice, such as First Aid, Health & Safety, Fire Safety and Hospitality based courses.
We are ideally looking for someone who can also deliver any/all the following subjects: Personal Development Skills, Customer Service, Mental Health First Aid, Food Safety and Level 3 Education & Training.
The role will primarily be Monday-Friday, but some flexibility will be required with occasional weekend and evening working.
Remote & on-site delivery across Cornwall and neighbouring counties.
The post-holder must adhere to safeguarding, equality, and data protection policies.
Accountabilities:
Training Delivery
- Deliver accredited and non-accredited training, including but not limited to:
- Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)
- First Aid at Work (FAW)
- Paediatric First Aid
- Annual First Aid Refresher Training
- Health & Safety Awareness
- Manual Handling
- Fire Safety Awareness
- Fire Marshal
Adapt training methods to suit different learning styles and workplace environments
Deliver training both face-to-face and blended/online, where required.
Compliance & Quality
Ensure all training complies with:
- Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981
- Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
- HSE guidance and awarding body standards (e.g. Ofqual, Qualsafe, FAA, Highfield)
- Maintain accurate learner records, assessments, and certification paperwork
- Follow internal quality assurance (IQA) procedures and contribute to audits
Learner Support
- Create an engaging, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Assess learner competence fairly and consistently
- Provide constructive feedback and post-course guidance
Administration & Development
- Prepare course materials and equipment
- Maintain training equipment, first aid kits, and manikins
- Keep professional knowledge up to date through CPD
- Represent the organisation professionally with clients and learners
Quality
- Achieve the quality standards required by the company and Awarding bodies.
- Maintain accuracy in all aspects of administration.
- Comply with all assessment, training, and quality processes.
- Be proactive in the role and not just reactive when asked.
- Work well as part of the team and ensure communication is consistent.
Continuous Improvement
- Continue to develop your skills through professional development activities.
- Embrace change when required for the delivery of services in line with Awarding body and legislative requirements.
- Engage with product development and delivery.
Other duties
- Assist with projects and other tasks as required.
- The job holder may be asked to undertake other tasks and duties as requested by your line manager, to contribute to the success of the business.
The role has no line management responsibility for other staff members.
