Overview

Dunbia Cross Hands is a key site within Dunbia, a leading UK and Ireland food company supplying high-quality meat products to major retailers, food-service providers and export markets. Operations combine modern processing facilities with established industry expertise to deliver consistent quality and value. This is a full-time, on-site Technical Shift Manager role based at Cross Hands in Carmarthenshire. The Technical Shift Manager collaborates closely with operations, engineering, and planning teams to maintain product integrity, improve processes and support continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Responsibilities

The Technical Shift Manager oversees all technical and quality activities during the shift, ensuring compliance with food safety, legal and customer standards. Responsibilities include:

Managing the technical and quality assurance teams
Monitoring production processes and addressing non-conformances promptly.
Reviewing and verifying records (such as CCPs, traceability and hygiene checks)
Supporting audits and driving corrective and preventative actions.

Qualifications

Strong analytical skills to interpret production data, quality results and technical reports with the ability to make timely, evidence-based duties.
Proven team management experience, including coaching, performance monitoring and leading a shift-based technical or quality team in a manufacturing or food-based environment.
Hands-on technical support experience within food manufacturing or a similar regulated industry, with a good knowledge of food safety, HACCP, quality systems and compliance requirements.
Experience in Food Science, Food Technology, Science or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work cross functionally and represent the technical function in meetings and audits.
Good IT skills (e.g. MS Office, quality or production systems) and familiarity with audit frameworks such as BRCGS and major retailer standards is advantageous.
Flexibility to work shift patterns and respond to operational needs in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

To participate as required in activities concerning the development and promotion of a positive food safety & quality culture at site.
To complete reports, letters, documents or information/risk assessments as required.
To assist in the delivery of key business objectives & performance targets determined for the individual and the Food Safety & Quality Department, assisting in the performance of the whole site.
Ensure adherence to company policies, legislative requirements and customer standards. Including Health & Safety and Food Safety.
