We are seeking a skilled and safety conscious Electrical Fitter to work on our high and low voltage network, with a strong mechanical background to join the Engineering team at Jersey Electricity. In this role, you will be involved in the installation, maintenance, testing, and commissioning of high voltage plant equipment across the Transmission, Generation and Distribution network (typically ranging from 11kV up to 90kV).
As HV assets rely heavily on complex mechanical linkages and operating mechanisms within oil insulated plant, your mechanical expertise will be just as critical as your electrical knowledge. You will play a key role in maintaining the safety, reliability, and efficiency of crucial network infrastructure, working in accordance with JE Safety Rules and company procedures.

Switchgear & Circuit Breakers: Overhaul, service, and accurately align mechanical operating mechanisms associated with oil, vacuum, and SF6 circuit breakers.
- Rigging & Lifting: Safely position, install, and align HV assets, structures, and busbar systems using cranes, hoists, using JE-approved lifting procedures and equipment.
- Gaskets & Seals: Replace seals, gaskets, and bushings on transformers and fluid-filled equipment to maintain oil and gas integrity.
- DC Battery Systems: Carry out maintenance, inspection, testing, and replacement of Transmission and Distribution DC battery systems, ensuring reliability of protection and control supplies.
- Perform electrical testing according to JE standards, including Insulation Resistance (IR) testing, Ductor (contact resistance) testing, Partial Discharge (PD) testing and Trip timing tests on Circuit breakers.
- Diagnose and resolve faults across electro-mechanical systems, including seized, worn, or misaligned linkages within isolated HV environments.
- Provide clear and accurate feedback on asset condition to support JE asset management and maintenance policies and procedures.
- Ensure safe handling, containment, and reporting of insulating oils and SF6 gas in line with environmental and company requirements
- Promote and actively support a strong safety-first culture, challenging unsafe acts and stopping work where necessary
- Work strictly following JE Safety Rules, the Permit to Work (PTW) system, approved switching, isolation, and earthing procedures. Operate as a proficient or authorised person (or work towards this status) with relevant JE authorisations including PTW(R), LVGP, LVSW, and LVSS.

At least 3 years’ experience in a diverse engineering environment
- Willing and able to travel to the UK for specialised job training.
- Holds a UK/Jersey Driving license.
- Good computer literacy skills.
- Good analytical, problem solving and fault finding skills.
- Strong team player with a collaborative approach.
