Full job description

The Care Home Interiors Company is a multi-award-winning, family run business, offering an exceptional design and installation service. Our base is in Medstead, Hampshire and we are in the process of setting up a second manufacturing workshop in Westbury. We handmake bespoke furniture, curtains and dressing items for the Care Home sector which we then install in care homes around the UK, we are much respected in the industry. We are seeking a skilled Sewing Machinist specialising in upholstery to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating sewing machines as part of our manufacturing process, to create high-quality upholstered furniture and components. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise your sewing expertise within a supportive and organised environment. A keen eye for detail and high standards of workmanship are essential, to ensure the durability and aesthetic appeal of finished products.

Responsibilities

Operate industrial sewing machines to assemble upholstery fabrics and materials with precision and care
Cut, measure, and prepare fabric pieces according to specified patterns and designs
Inspect completed work for quality, consistency and adherence to safety standards
Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring all tools and materials are properly stored
Work with other members of the production team to meet targets ensuring products are ready on time for customers

Experience

Proven experience in sewing, particularly within upholstery or furniture manufacturing
Organisational skills are important, along with attention to detail and high standards
Ability to prioritise and self-manage own workload
Familiarity with different types of sewing machines and techniques used in upholstery work
Ability to interpret technical drawings or patterns, using correct fabrics to manufacture required items
Attention to detail, reliability and the ability to work efficiently within a team environment

This role provides an excellent opportunity for individuals who care about craftsmanship and quality upholstery production. The work involved is physical, could involve lifting and manual handling. Salary according to skills and expcerience.

Pay: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
