We have a fantastic opportunity for an Accounting Technician to join our Accountancy Team to help the maintenance and development of the council’s financial records and budget monitoring.
As an Accounting Technician, you will be responsible for the compilation and analysis of regular financial reports in respect of specific service areas using the Council’s financial management systems to inform and assist budget managers to understand the reports to enable accurate financial forecasting. You will work with budget managers, heads of Finance and Principal Accountants to resolve queries and variances and will be involved in budget preparation, accounts closure, and completion of statutory returns and grant claims. You will also assist in the effective use of the Council’s liquid resources (cash) including Investments, Borrowing, Imprest Accounts and Petty Cash balances.
We are actively seeking a candidate who is AAT qualified, or part qualified with relevant and appropriate experience, who has proven ability to thrive under pressure to meet deadlines. You will bring with you the ability to demonstrate an understanding of budget preparation, monitoring and accounts closure, as well as excellent IT and numeracy skills.
