Salary: £18 per hour, Training rate £15.00 per hour
Hours: Monday & Friday 8.30am to 4.00pm term time only. (Annual leave can only be booked during non term time)

Job description
As a Teaching Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to provide one-on-one support to a young boy who has lots of potential but requires assistance due to his physical, communication and medical needs. You will play a crucial role in helping him access the curriculum, by developing his communication skills and managing his physical needs to reach his full potential.
The Role
- Be crucial in supporting the student with their learning, development and progress in all areas of the curriculum within a range of learning contexts including the classroom, the local environment and within the community. After school supporting with the young person’s needs at home.
- Provide one-on-one support to the student during classes.
- Adapt teaching materials and strategies to accommodate the students’ unique needs.
- Assist in the use of technology to facilitate learning (e.g. tablets, specialised software and a communication aid).
- Monitor and ensure the students safety and wellbeing.
- Collaborate with the classroom teacher to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Maintain open communication with the students’ parents and a team of independent professionals.
- Support an environment that fosters equality, diversity and the rights of all young people to be seen as learners and be treated with respect.
- Place an emphasis on support and empowerment of the young person.
- Provide high quality support in all aspects of the role.
- The role will require participation in physical intervention and personal care routines.
Experience /Qualifications:
- You must hold at least level 2 / C grade (or equivalent) Maths and English.
- Teaching Assistant Qualification - Level 2/ 3 (preferred)
- Proven experience as a teaching assistant, especially in working with students with complex and special needs. A valid teaching assistant certification is essential.
- Demonstrate technological proficiency or comfort with technology, including familiarity with educational software and adaptive technology and a willingness to develop in this area. (Preferred)
- Ambitious and determined to overcome barriers to learning.
- Capable of having a vision to see potential rather than disability.
- Committed fully to our safeguarding values and procedures.
- Proactive, rather than reactive.
- Creative thinkers with solution focus.
- Able to work supportively as a team member and confidentially when working independently.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in relation to the young person’s communication needs.
- Able to understand and deliver effective education and support in line with identified needs. (Preferred)
- Able to keep detailed records
- Keen to work collaboratively within an integrated team of therapists and specialists
- Driving Licence (preferred)
