The Role
We're looking for an energetic, hands-on and inspiring Cellar Door Manager who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment and genuinely enjoys leading people.
This isn't a desk-based management role. You'll be leading from the front - supporting the team during busy services, setting high standards, solving problems, driving sales and ensuring every guest leaves having had an exceptional experience.
You'll be responsible for creating a positive, motivated team culture while ensuring excellent operational standards and commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and motivate the Cellar Door team to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Take ownership of the day-to-day operation of our Wine Bar and Cellar Door.
- Be a visible, hands-on manager, supporting the team throughout service and leading by example.
- Drive wine, food and retail sales through excellent customer engagement.
- Ensure every guest receives a warm welcome and an outstanding experience.
- Recruit, train, develop and supervise team members, providing regular coaching and feedback.
- Prepare staff rotas and ensure appropriate staffing levels.
- Maintain high standards of presentation, cleanliness, compliance and operational efficiency.
- Oversee stock control and ordering.
- Deliver or assist with wine tours and tastings.
- Work closely with the Events, Kitchen and Winemaking teams to ensure seamless guest experiences.
- Continuously look for ways to improve standards, efficiency and profitability.
About You
You'll be someone who naturally takes ownership, enjoys getting things done and isn't afraid to roll up your sleeves when needed.
You'll have:
- Previous management or supervisory experience within hospitality, retail or a customer-facing environment.
- A proven ability to motivate, develop and hold a team accountable.
- Excellent people skills and the confidence to manage staff of all experience levels.
- A proactive, positive attitude with plenty of energy and initiative.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise in a busy environment.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of how to drive sales while controlling costs.
- Good IT skills, including confidence using email, Word, Excel (or similar spreadsheet software), and other everyday office applications. Experience using booking or stock management systems would be an advantage.
- A passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.
- A genuine interest in wine (WSET qualifications would be an advantage but are not essential).
- Flexibility to work weekends and occasional evenings as required.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary, depending on experience.
- Company pension scheme.
- 28 days' holiday (including bank holidays).
- Free on-site parking.
- 20% staff discount on wine and food.
