Full job description

Are you passionate about the care and welfare of animals?

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated part time Animal Management Technicians to join our team. You’ll play a key role in the care and welfare of a wide range of animal species, supporting both animal husbandry and facility operations. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with a genuine love for animals and a strong interest in animal behaviour, welfare, and management. As well as technician duties, you will also carry out teaching assistant duties, supporting students on our animal management courses with thier learning and supporting teachers in the classroom.

This is an all year-round part-time role (19 hours a week) which will cover weekend working and including bank holidays when these fall on your working days. On weekend days and bank holidays including bank holidays over Christmas and Easter, you will work 4 hours split 9.00am – 1200 pm and 1 hour between 3 and 5 pm to secure the animals for the night. Christmas day and Boxing Day are split between the two technicians regardless of the days they fall on. During the Christmas closure, you work 5 hours a day except for the bank holidays. You will also provide cover for the other technician’s holidays and any other ad hoc absences.

The days are Sunday – Tuesday - Weekdays are 7.5hrs (8.30pm – 5.00pm); Saturdays and Sundays 4 hours.

Additional hours working as a TA could be available term time for a suitable candidate to increase the hours up to 37. Please state on the application form if interested in this.

The successful candidate will be required to possess an enhanced DBS certificate to be employed at the College.
