The role:
The Directorate of Forensic Mental Health provides tertiary care across a range of settings, including medium secure, low secure and community services for mentally disordered offenders.
The Community service focuses on providing care and support to patients and their relatives/carers within their own homes, with an emphasis on community reintegration and risk reduction.
A vacancy has arisen for a Forensic Community Psychiatric Nurse (FCPN) Band 6 covering the Clyde area of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. The post holder will manage their own caseload and support patients transitioning from inpatient care to community living, working within a multidisciplinary team framework
All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- This is a full-time permanent post working 36 hours per week

You will work these hours Monday to Wednesday, 0900 to 1700 / Thursday, 0900 to 1630 and Friday, 0900 to 1600

This post will be based at the Admin Building, Gartnavel Royal Hospital; the service will be relocating to Barr Street Health Hub in late June 2026.

The role involves community-based working, with engagement across multiple agencies and settings.
Key responsibilities:
You will be responsible for managing a caseload of mentally disordered offenders living in the community, including those transitioning from inpatient services. They will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and collaborate closely with partner agencies such as Criminal Justice Social Work, Police, Courts, and both statutory and voluntary sector organisations.
The role focuses on supporting community reintegration, reducing risk, and providing ongoing care and support to patients and their carers
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- First-level Registered Mental Nurse

Significant post registration experience

Evidence of continuous personal and professional development

Excellent communication and organisational skills

Previous experience of working in a forensic mental health environment
