The Senior Project Control Manager will play a key role in supporting assigned project manager in the successful delivery of major projects across all phases, from development through execution to closeout. This includes producing high-quality project controls outputs such as cost and schedule performance reports, forecasts, risk and opportunity analysis, benefits tracking, and Earned Value where required. The post holder will develop and maintain robust Work Breakdown Structures, logic-linked project schedules, and WBS dictionaries, ensuring accurate progress status and clear identification of critical path threats and opportunities. Responsibilities also include facilitating risk, opportunity, and lessons learned workshops; managing change control, contract claims, contingency reporting, and formal contractual communications; and providing structured document management to ensure key information and decisions are captured and accessible. The role will analyse performance trends, recommend corrective actions, validate progress through on-site engagement, contribute to continuous improvement of project controls processes, support wider Major Projects communications activity when required, and ensure all duties are carried out safely and in line with organisational procedures.
What you bring:
Essential:
- Degree educated (or equivalent) with significant project controls experience on large-scale (£100m+) construction or manufacturing projects
- Advanced proficiency in MS Project, Excel, and PowerPoint, with experience developing reports in Power BI
- Strong report writing skills with the ability to tailor outputs for a range of audiences
- Professional accreditation (APM or PMI) or willingness to work towards this, supported by ongoing development
- Proven ability to engage effectively with technical specialists and senior stakeholders, with effective teamworking skills
Desirable:
- Experience in the introduction of a project controls function to a project team
- Proficiency in Primavera P6
- Previous experience delivering major projects in the UK rail industry
The role works Monday – Friday, 35 hours per week and is based in Atrium Court with hybrid arrangements available (3 days in the office minimum).
Salary range: £70250 - £75841
